Paint and Brush Gang: a study in creative freedom and shenanigains

I LOVE and adore my Art Club. I call them the "Paint and Brush Gang" as a nod to my first 4 years of teaching art in Trenton, NJ. We used to get together weekly for much needed support and friendship, calling ourselves the Paint and Brush Gang. I miss them!

These students meet Mondays after school and come in one recess a week to assist in the Art room: helping the younger kids, washing brushes (heh heh heh) and displaying art in the hallways. It is such a great opportunity for collaboration and creative freedom. Here they are in action:
Creating a display for 1st grade 3D Neighborhoods: they came up with the idea of adding sky details: clouds, birds, butterflies...to compliment the younger student's art. I love the scale they used!

Adorable!
